The True Heart, Frampton on Severn

Now operating as a small family run Bed and Breakfast in Frampton-on-Severn between Bath and Cheltenham, you will be sure of a friendly and warm welcome to THE TRUE HEART, an unusual detached Georgian cottage built in the 1830s, a village pub until the 1960s and quietly situated in a "no through road" that leads to the village Church, the Gloucester/Sharpness Canal and towards the River Severn. The cottage has recently been extended and renovated (ecologically) and is now transformed into a comfortable and homely B & B with wonderful views across the meadows to the canal and the river - the longest in Britain (both within easy walking distance) and across to the Forest of Dean.

The village of Frampton-on-Severn is a Conservation Area within the glorious Severn Vale on the edge of the Cotswolds. Its village green, reputedly the longest in England, edged with diverse period and fascinating houses and interspersed with ancient ponds and resident swans, hosts many fairs and events throughout the year, and where traditional village cricket is played outside The Bell Inn during the summer months. This is great walking and cycling country (wellies and cycles available to borrow, free of charge). It's a great location for exploring Bath, Cheltenham, Bristol, The Cotswolds, Slimbridge etc (see "local area")
The True Heart from the Canal
Voted Cotswold Village of the Year 2006 by Cotswold Life Magazine
Charles Berkeley, heir to nearby Berkeley Castle (a remarkable and atmospheric medieval building lived in by his family since 1153 and open to the public during the summer months) says that Frampton on Severn is his quintessential Cotswold village "with its beautiful long green and the quaint little houses... it's as if time has stood still..."

Traditional and hearty breakfasts are served at The True Heart. Everything is local, homemade, organic and fair-trade where possible, and of the finest quality - we do not use cash and carry establishments but rather local farmers' markets, traditional greengrocers and butchers.
If cooked English breakfasts are not your thing, or you have had enough of bangers and bacon etc after travelling around, have a lighter appetite, or are a vegetarian, there is always fresh fruit salad (no sugar), and smoked salmon with scrambled egg is now a popular alternative to a traditional breakfast. We are more than happy to cater for special diets, particularly if we know in advance of arrival.
The most important aspects about a Bed and Breakfast are the quality of the bed and the breakfast, sounds obvious doesn't it? Sadly standards are not always what we wish them to be, but we pride ourselves in the highest quality beds, bedding and linen - all tested by ourselves, and breakfasts - also tested by ourselves!
- All bedrooms have either en suite or private bathrooms. They are warm, light and airy, have comfortable beds and are equipped with flatscreen colour TV, radio/alarm, hairdryer, bottled mineral water, shoe-cleaning materials and tea/coffee making facilities.
- This is a non-smoking house. However, if guests would like to have a puff or two, they are very welcome to do so in the tranquillity of our garden, where there are tables, chairs etc for your comfort.
- Plenty of off-street parking available
- Sitting room exclusively for guests
- An easy walk to two good traditional pubs and a restaurant in the village, and many more a cycle ride or short drive away.
- Cycles (+ hats) and wellies (adult sizes) available to borrow, no charge.
Disabled facilities: we have a room downstairs that has a double sofabed available for disabled visitors, with a private bathroom (bath, shower, basin, W.C.) just across the hall. Unfortunately the doors are not wide enough for wheelchair access, however, there are no steps from the parking area to the house, and none inside.- We like to give help with local information and sightseeing plans
- We can offer guests with wireless enabled laptops high-speed broadband access through our "wi-fi" hotspot. There is no charge for this.
Please note that as we are a very small B & B, we do not accept Credit or Debit cards.
